Beyond Blue – Beyond Now: Suicide safety planning APP
The BeyondNow Suicide Safety Plan App can be used if a person is experiencing suicidal thoughts or feelings.
It involves creating a structured plan, ideally with support from a health professional, that can be worked through when experiencing suicidal thoughts, feelings of distress or crisis to help get through the tough moments.
The App prompts a person to work through the steps until they feel safe and includes:
A safety plan – such as things a person can do by themselves, thinking about reasons to live and distractions such as enjoyable activities
Coping strategies
People that can be contacted for support, such as friends, family and health professionals.
The App can be downloaded to a person’s phone so that they can access their safety plan and edit it at any time. There are also options to email a copy to trusted friends, family or health professionals so support can be provided when a person is experiencing suicidal thoughts or heading towards a suicidal crisis.
The App is free to download from the Apple Store or Google Play. It is also available to use online on a desktop or laptop.
You can select an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander version in the app settings.
